Software Recommendations - FREE!!

Software recommendations can be a tricky thing. I, for example, can't keep my day straight without a good calendar application. I know there's one built into Microsoft Outlook and there's even one built into my county's webmail system. But, I like one that pops out at me each time I look at my desktop - Rainlendar's my favorite and everyone else I show it to likes it.

Best of all this program is free and open source. I would almost say there's a free version of just about any software you're looking for. I often go out of my way to promote FLOSS projects. I constantly give away copies of The Open CD and the TTCS OSSWIN CD. However, Lifehacker (one of my favorite blogs) had a link to I want a Freeware Utility to ... 450+ common problems solved. I've added this to my own list of Essential Software for Windows Computers but I've recently recommended this to someone else so I figured I'd recommend it separately.

So, if you're looking for a piece of software to do a particular task and don't want to shell out the big $$$, give this list a try! ;-)
